Josefina Castellví room
The Josefina Castellví Room is located on floor 0 of the Veterinary Library and, like the rest of the library, is affiliated with the Veterinary Faculty of the UAB. The Library provides assistance for the Veterinary Medicine and Food Science and Technology degrees, as well as the rest of the university community.
The room’s name pays tribute to the oceanographer and marine microbiologist Josefina Castellví, one of the first women to lead a scientific institution in Spain, a pioneer in marine bacteriology research and the first woman to lead a scientific base in Antarctica.
This room is designed to have multipurpose functionality according to the needs of users:
- Space for informal and active learning, with furniture suitable for sharing knowledge and working in groups or individually.
- Space for teaching and cultural activities of the Faculty, training courses, events, presentations and other events.
Purpose
The Josefina Castellví Room is designed so that students can develop both individual study activities and group work, in an environment that favors concentration and collaboration. The furniture, mobile and versatile, allows a quick and simple configuration according to the type of activity.
In addition, the room can be completely closed, which makes it an ideal space to host different types of events and activities. In this sense, events organized by the library may be held, such as book presentations, training sessions or workshops, as well as other activities promoted by the Faculty, such as conferences, meetings or exhibitions.
Activities
Teaching innovation activities, workshops, active learning, cultural events, conferences, presentations, etc., aimed at the university community.
The space can be used during library opening hours.
